Broadband in the Western Isles

Launch dates announced for Connected Communities Broadband retail services

27th September 2005

The Connected Communities Broadband Network has announced pricing and availability for its retail broadband services.

Following successful rollout of the network to public sector customers including the health service, council and the education sector in the Western Isles, a range of packages is being promoted aimed at the residential and business user.

Connection to the international internet gateway will be established on 28th October 2005.

Retail services will be rolled out on a community by community basis with the first installations expected in North Tolsta, Barvas and Brue in mid November.

Communities in the other islands will be addressed over the following few weeks as their local community nodes are activated.

Connected Communities will be writing to all homes and premises in the coverage area to invite subscriptions to the service.

The product and pricing plans are highly competitive with those available in other areas of the Highlands and Islands - please click here for details.
