CASE STUDIES
1] Steve Liddle, a woodlands worker with the Council has recently started using a broadband connection from Connected Communities.
"I recently moved up from Harris where I’d been using a slow dialup link. The Connected Communities broadband link enables me to use the Forestry Commission Landsearch database which is hosted on the mainland. This used to be a slow process but it’s much easier and more reliable now."

2] Carol Knott is one of the Council archaeologists based in the old school in Achmore.
"It’s been wonderfully fast. I used to work from home using a slow dialup connection and this system gives me a lot of benefits. I don't have to worry about tying up the phone line if I go online, or choosing between using the internet and making calls."

3] Chris Schofield is a Senior Environmental Health Officer with the Council and recently moved from the Stornoway office.
"It was getting very crowded there and a condition of the move was that we would have the Connected Communities broadband link available. I’ve found the email service works at least as fast as it did in the old office and the internet is much faster."

4] David Nicolson is the Storekeeper for the Community Equipment Service at Marybank in Stornoway and is an enthusiastic user of the Connected Communities Service.
"The service has been very reliable and has never gone down. In fact our connection has been running even when other services weren’t. Its been faster than I expected too. We are starting to use a barcoding system linked to the stock control system so I can walk around with a handheld barcode scanner and load all the stock information into the computer. There’s no way we could do without it now and I’d definitely recommend it to other people."
